New Scams Target Texas First Bank

Don't get hooked by Internet scammers trying to find out your personal and financial information. If you have information regarding this type of fraudulent activity or have been solicited for personal and financial information, please email our .

Texas First Bank does not solicit personal, confidential or password information from its members in the form of an email or any other non-secured form. If you receive an email requesting such information on your Texas First Bank account please do not respond and call your location immediately or call our bookkeeping department at 409.948.1993.

In the latest Internet scam, "phishers" send an e-mail or pop-up message that claims to be from a business or organization, such as your bank or federal agency. The message may tell you that you need to update your account information. You are then directed to a website that looks like a legitimate site, but it isn't. The only purpose of this site is to trick you into divulging your personal information. The "phishers" then use your personal information to steal your identity to run up bills in your name or commit other crimes.

For example, you may have received an e-mail from Texas First Bank stating- During our regularly scheduled account maintenance and Online verification procedures, we have detected a slight error in your account information.

This might be due to either of the following reasons:

  1. A recent change in your personal information (i.e. change of address).
  2. Submitting invalid information during the initial enrollment process.

If you get this type of message, do not respond by e-mail. Take a few minutes to call your bank to see if there is really a problem.

If you have recently received a check in the mail claiming to be a lottery winner, please call your location immediately or bookkeeping at 409.948.1993. You may also visit fakecheck.org for more information.
