  • Texas First Bank will NEVER ask you to provide, verify or update personal account information via email or an unsecured Internet web site. If you receive a request, DO NOT PROVIDE INFORMATION and contact a Customer Support Representative immediately at (409) 978-2250 during business hours. NOTE: Texas First Bank does provide a "secure messaging" feature within 24/7 Online Banking which can be used to communicate personal account information in a secure manner.
  • Texas First Bank suggests that at least annually all commercial online banking customers perform a risk assessment and controls evaluation.

Create strong passwords

Strong Passwords are considered to be at least 8-characters long; not to exceed 32-characters and at a minimum contain at least:

  • One upper and lowercase character
  • One digit
  • One punctuation character

Criteria

  • Contain both upper and lower case characters (e.g., a-z, A-Z)
  • Have digits and punctuation characters as well as letters e.g., 0-9, !@#$%^&*()_+|~-=\`{}[]:";'<>?,./)
  • Are at least eight alphanumeric characters long
  • Are not words in any language, slang, dialect, jargon, etc.
  • Are not based on personal information, names of family, etc.
  • Passwords should never be written down or stored on-line. Try to create passwords that can be easily remembered.

Poor, weak passwords have the following characteristics and must not be used:

  • The password contains less than eight characters
  • The password is a word found in a dictionary (English or foreign)
  • The password is a common usage word such as:
  • Names of family, pets, friends, co-workers, fantasy characters, etc.
  • Computer terms and names, commands, sites, companies, hardware, software.
  • The words "TexasFirstBank", "TFB" or any derivation.
  • Birthdays and other personal information such as addresses and phone numbers.
  • Word or number patterns like aaabbb, qwerty, zyxwvuts, 123321, etc.
  • Any of the above spelled backwards.
  • Any of the above preceded or followed by a digit (e.g., secret1, 1secret)

Set up account alerts to watch for suspicious activity on your accounts

Text message and email account alerts offer a fast and easy way to help protect your TFB accounts from fraud. Enable one or more of our many alerts to stay on top of your account activity.

  • Monitor your account activity by choosing alerts such as unusual spending, failed login attempts, balance information and suspicious activity. Messages will be sent to you by email or text message.
  • As well as setting up alerts, we will soon offer device registration for mobile texting, which allows you a quick and convenient way to verify activities TFB deems suspicious. If TFB sees something suspicious, we may send you a text message asking you to reply to verify the activity. Registering for mobile text messaging also gives you access to your account balances, transaction history, available credit and funds transfer.
